Thurman Alva May passed away Wednesday, August 3, 2022 at his home in New Boston, Texas. He was 84.


Thurman was born August 9, 1937 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Elvis Louis and Martha Elizabeth Johnston May. He was a veteran of the United States Army and the owner and operator of May and Sons Auto Repair. Thurman was a member of Avery Assembly of God Church.


He was preceded in death by his parents; four brothers, Louis H. May, Elvis Junior May, Luther B. May, and Arthur L.


May; and three sisters, Dorotha E. Kyle, Jeraldine May, and Pauline May.


He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda R. May of New Boston, Texas; one daughter, Debbie May Mobley and her husband, Randy of New Boston, Texas; two sons, Terry A. May of Redwater, Texas and Phillip T. May of New Boston, Texas; two brothers, Johnnie May of Sweet Home, Oregon and Everett May of Sweet Home, Oregon; two sisters, Levena Casey of La Grande, Oregon and Ruby Vanyi of Vader, Oregon; six grandchildren, Travis May and his wife, Darla of De Kalb, Texas, Kayleigh Butler and her husband, Daniel of Redwater, Texas, Heath McMillan and his wife, Maddy of New Boston, Texas, Dalton McMillan and his wife, Stacy of De Kalb, Texas, Nikole McMillan Haun and her husband, Michael of New Boston, Texas, and Jordan Ramsey of Eagletown, Oklahoma; five great grandchildren, Kinleigh Glover, Kanan Mc-Millan, Hoyt Butler, Pagyn Haun, and Case Denison; and numerous other relatives and friends.


Services were held at 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Rev. Samuel Nuckels officiating. Interment followed at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.


Visitation was held 10:00 A.M. to 11:00 A.M. Saturday, August 6, 2022 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
