Samuel Smith

Samuel "Sammy" Edward Smith of Avery, Texas passed away Thursday, December 16, 2021.  He was 76.

Samuel Edward Smith was born on November 22, 1945 to Fred and Farrie Smith in Red River County.  Samuel was the fifth of seven children.  At an early age, the Smith family relocated to De Kalb, Texas where he grew up and attended Marvin Pynes ISD to graduate.  After graduating, he moved to Topeka, Kansas where he worked for the Elks Club.  Then he moved back to De Kalb to work at Red River Army Depot where he retired after thirty two years of building bombs for the ammunition division.  He worked for State Bank of De Kalb for 30 plus years and Bailey Creek Nursing Facility for six years.  He loved his cattle and his horses.
