Ida "Johnnie" Lewis, age 97, of De Kalb, Texas went to be with her Lord on Sunday, January 31, 2021 at a local care facility.
"Miss Johnnie" as she was known in De Kalb, had worked in the local stores from the time she was a young bride. Her husband was drafted into the Army and sent overseas and she went to work in Mr. Brown's Variety Store for many years, spent years in Dick Robinson's Drug Store and she retired from Family Health Mart. She liked to stay busy; and loved to cook pies for her neighbors. She volunteered at De Kalb Hope and rang the bell at Christmas. When the tornado tore up our town, she and friends made sandwiches for the workers who were working to restore power to De Kalb. She had a big heart and loved to help people. Now she can relax, enjoy being in her Heavenly Home with Jesus, and her loved ones who are already there.
