The Maud Independent School District is asking local taxpayers to dig a little deeper into their pockets.
MISD has a proposed $6.5 million bond package that will be on the May 6 ballot. This bond package will be used to build a new cafetorium, renovate the existing cafetorium into a band hall, improve traffic control and provide additional campus parking spaces. If approved, taxpayers will see a $0.22 increase on every $1,000 of appraised property. This increase will not affect district residents who are 65 years of age or older with an approved homestead exemption.
Bradshaw said the district created a facility committee comprised of members of the Maud community, school board, parents and staff to identify the most immediate needs at the campus.
