J W Thornton, age 83 of Maud, Texas passed away Tuesday, July 7, 2020 in a local nursing facility.  Mr. Thornton was born January 3, 1937 in Hope, Arkansas.  He was a Truck Driver with Wheeling Pipeline, United States Army Veteran, member of New Hope Baptist Church, Hope and is preceded in death by his wife, Inez Thornton.

Survivors include his daughter, June and husband Jim Smith of Redwater, Texas, sisters Imogene Maples of Springhill, Louisiana, Gracie Dumeney of Sherwood, Arkansas, grandchildren, Tracy Eichelberger of Palm Bay, Florida, Katie Sipes of Red Lick, Texas, Jamie Henson of Redwater, Texas, Tanner Henson of Maud, Texas, 4 great grandchildren and a number of other relatives and friends.
