OZELL THOMPSON

Ozell Thompson, of New Boston, Texas, passed away Tuesday, June 11, 2019 at a Texarkana, Texas hospital. She was 98.

Ozell was born August 8, 1920, in Texarkana, Texas, to Arch and Bessie Wilder Amason. She was a former Deputy with the Bowie County Clerk’s office and was a member of Westside Missionary Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas, where she served for many years as Church Secretary and in the Ladies Auxiliary.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, J.R. Thompson; 3 brothers and 2 sisters.

She is survived by a son and daughter-in-law, Richard and Diane Thompson of New Boston, Texas; two grandchildren and their spouses, Kelly and Andrew Aslin of New Boston, Texas and April and Lance Gholston of Arlington, Texas; three great grandchildren, Zack Warren, Addison Gholston and Grayson Gholston; and numerous other relatives and friends.

Services will be 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2019 at Westside Missionary Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas with Rev. Wayne Stringer and Rev. Shannon Doyen officiating. Interment will follow at Red Bayou Cemetery in New Boston, Texas under the direction of Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM Friday, June 14, 2019 at Westside Missionary Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas.
