FLOYD GENE EVANS
Floyd Gene Evans, 86, died peacefully at his home in Richardson, Texas on February 27, 2019. Gene was born in Young County, Texas to Pauline Miller Evans and Leonard Evans.
Gene is survived by his loving wife, Marion Smalley Evans. He was preceded in death by his wife, Doylene Howell Evans, daughter-in-law Rita Icenhower, and granddaughter Karen Icenhower Wilson.
He is survived by children Eddy Icenhower, Laura Arnold, Wade Smalley and wife Norma; grandchildren Eddy “Hal” Icenhower, Lhasa Lea, Brandon Arnold, Cameron Arnold, Brigitte Smalley, Brooke Smalley, Ashley Dowdy and husband Josh, Kori Ainslee, Ryan Ainslee; great grandchildren Zapata, Bo, Zack, Presley, Khloe; numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Gene was a long-time member and deacon at Lakeside Baptist Church (now Lake Pointe Church- White Rock Campus). He will be remembered as a man of faith with a strong devotion to family and friends with a desire and willingness to help others.
Pallbearers are Hal Icenhower, Wade Smalley, Brandon Arnold, Cameron Arnold, and Josh Dowdy. Honorary pallbearer is Gene’s son and best friend, Eddy Icenhower.
Services will be at 2 p.m., March 4, 2019, at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Reverend Artis Jones officiating and special music provided by our granddaughter Ashley Dowdy. Burial will follow at Woodmen Cemetery, De Kalb, Texas.
A memorial service to honor Gene’s life will be held at Lake Pointe Church- White Rock Campus, Dallas, Texas at a later date.
