ALEXIS JAMES RIVAS
Alexis James Rivas passed away Thursday, March 21 2019 at his home in New Boston, Texas. He was 39.
Alexis was born June 9, 1979, in Monte Vista, Colorado, to Angel and Liz Salinas Rivas. He held a Masters Degree in Education, a Superintendent Certificate and was currently working towards his Doctorate in Education. Alexis was a Spanish Teacher for Maud Independent School District, a member of Omega Delta Phi Fraternity and a member of St Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church in New Boston, Texas, where he was very active in his church ministry.
He is survived by his parents, Angel and Liz Rivas of De Kalb, Texas; two brothers and a sister-in-law, Joe Rivas of De Kalb, Texas and Felipe and Shana Rivas of De Kalb, Texas; six nieces and nephews, Jacob Rivas, Trenten Whitehead, Jessica Rivas, Landrie Rivas, Adrian Rivas and Anna Rivas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM Saturday, March 30, 2019 at St. Mary of the Cenacle Catholic Church in New Boston, Texas. Interment will follow at Garland Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
Visitation and Rosary will be held from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM Friday, March 29, 2019 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
