HERSCHEL HENDERSON BURGESS

Herschel Henderson Burgess, age 92 of Simms, Texas passed away Thursday, February 28, 2019 in a local hospice facility.  Mr. Burgess was born December 12, 1926 in Redwater Texas.  He was retired from the United States Air Force, member of Old Union Baptist Church and is preceded in death by his wife Patty Burgess.

Survivors include one daughter, Linda Smith of Simms, Texas, four grandchildren, Susan Barnes of New Boston, Texas, David Smith Jr of Plano, Texas, Kenneth Smith of Simms, Texas, Michael Smith of Clarinda, Iowa, one brother, Aaron Burgess of Lafayette, Louisiana, four nephews, Erby Burgess of Glenwood, Arkansas,  Ralph Burgess of Texarkana, Texas, Mark Burgess of Texarkana, Texas, Larry Burgess of Houston, Texas, one niece Nancy Reeve of Lafayette, Louisiana,  7  great grandchildren, 2 great great  grandchildren, and a number of other relatives and friends.  

Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 P.M., Sunday, March 3, 2019 in the Bates Rolf Chapel, New Boston with Rev. Erby Burgess officiating. Interment will be in Elliott Cemetery under the direction of Bates Rolf Funeral Home, New Boston, Texas. Visitation will be from 5:00 until 7:00 P.M., Saturday, March 2, 2019 at the funeral home.
