Discovery Place will be hosting an in-person event at the Museum of Regional History where we will discuss the importance of the Orr School as well as what it takes to preserve a historical building. The event will be free to all.
For February the Texarkana Museums System wanted to highlight buildings in Texarkana with an importance to the African American community in this area. Discovery Place will be shining a light on the Orr School and look at what it takes to preserve a historic building. We will discuss the importance of Orr School and then we will look at some of the individuals and groups that worked to preserve the building for future generations. Lastly, we will go over the steps it takes to save a historic building. This will be a lecture-style event.
