Michael Fesco of Sour Lake and Holden Ashworth of Vidor weighed in a three-day total of 73.84 pounds on 15 bass to grab the top prize of $100,000 cash in the second annual Brandon Belt Grand Slam held January 12-14 on Sam Rayburn. The anglers topped 214 teams, including some of Sam Rayburn’s heaviest hitters, to win Texas’ richest team event.

“We felt like we were a couple of nails in a room full of hammers out there,” said Fesco. “We’re the lowest guys out here, but we stayed at it.”

Fesco/Ashworth entered the final round with a near six-pound lead over second place finishers Derek Mundy of Broaddus and Jason Bonds of Lufkin. They iced it with a 26.70 pound limit, all caught during a magical window of time shortly after noon.
