New Boston Public Library now offering E-books

New Boston Public Library now offering E-books

A public library is an opportunity for members of the surrounding area to come rent books, learn more, read, and many other things. New Boston Public Library has introduced a program called “E-Read Texas”.

E-Read Texas is a program that will allow a participating library to bring electronic books to its members. This program was first launched and put into action in July of 2019 by the Texas State Library and Archives Commission (TSLAC). Other small libraries throughout the state of Texas have been using this program and now New Boston is starting with the program as well. This program will be partnered with Amigos Library Services in which they will use an open source e-book app called “SimplyE”. SimplyE will be available for nearly all types of devices that are able to connect to internet services. It is a fairly simple app to use in which they consider it to be a “three-click” approach to reading e-books. You are able to search books that have open access already through SimplyE and then you are able to search books provided by your local library as well.

New Boston Library Director, Christine Woodrow, talked a little bit about the program, “We have been involved in this program for a few months now. It is fairly simple to use. To be able to use it with our books though, you have to have a library card from our library. This is how you login to use our library.”
