Gloria Lavern Garrett Johnson of New Boston, Texas passed away Sunday, July 30, 2023 at a Texarkana, Texas care facility. She was 85.
Gloria was born November 4, 1937 in New Orleans, Louisiana to Travis Leonard Garrett, Sr. and Alice Pruett Garrett. She was a homemaker and a member of Gospel Tabernacle in New Boston, Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, O. E. Johnson, Jr.; five brothers; and two sons-in-law, Billy England and Gene Nix, Jr.
She is survived by three daughters and one son-in-law, Reva Sue and Phillip Kennedy of De Kalb, Texas, Sandra Nix of Fate, Texas, and Pamela England of Texarkana, Texas; three sons and two daughters-in-law, Michael Wayne and Sue Johnson of Pleasanton, Texas, Robert E. “Bo” Johnson of New Boston, Texas, and Charles E. and Renae Johnson of Texarkana, Texas; grandchildren, Rodney A. Parker and his wife, Jennifer of Liberty, Texas and Kyler Johnson of New Boston, Texas; and numerous grandchildren, great grandchildren, great-great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.
Services will be 10:00 A.M. Friday, August 4, 2023 at Gospel Tabernacle in New Boston, Texas with Bro. Cade Rich officiating. Interment will follow at Liberty Hill Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
Visitation will be held 6:00 P.M. to 8:00 P.M. Thursday, August 3, 2023 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.
