A new era for some, rocking chairs for others

A new era for some, rocking chairs for others

Random musings and thoughts fill my head this week as I ponder the facts of getting older. I look around our little corner of the world and I see things that have changed, things that haven’t, and most definitely things that need to change. It seems to me that the days of doing things the old way or the way they have always been done have reached their end and it is time for doings things different.

Those who used to handle the annual Oktoberfest in DeKalb are now mostly gone or have slowed down a little, and you can see a fresh new wave of those taking up the reigns to make sure the festival goes on. Now, the festival may look a little different, but who is to say it isn’t still a fun time for all. I can guarantee you it will be, and I applaud those who continue the tradition.

It seems to me that there are a plethora of examples here locally where things might benefit from the insight of a younger crowd. Maybe it is time for those who have watched us older folks over the years to take up the mantle and forge into the future.
