On Page 1 of this week’s paper, you will read a very graphic account of a trail that took place last week here in Bowie County.
While it has always been a personal choice for me as the publisher of your community newspaper to generally shy away from stories of such a graphic nature, the choice was made to run this story in such a manner that all of us become more aware that these kinds of crimes DO HAPPEN right here in our little corner of the world.
The heinous, despicable crimes that these human traffickers have been sent to prison for this month are the kind that you usually hear about on Dallas news stations, or Houston, or New York City. I approved the front page story as is because I believe that we need to be more aware that bad people do exist, even here. Drug use is prevalent everywhere, and human trafficking is quickly becoming a fact of life that we all have to deal with.
