The Hooks Hornets start each year with the same goals to set the program up for success in the season, win game one, have a winning record going into district play and win the district championship and make the playoffs. The Hornets accomplished the first goal, knocking off the once top ranked Harmony Eagles in what was an emotional rally that showed the heart and determination of the Hornets.
The Hornets were set to receive the opening kickoff, but a recovered onside kick put the Eagles around midfield with possession. Shortly after, Harmony drew first blood with a touchdown to start scoring early. The Hornets responded in the second quarter with a 57 yard touchdown run by #7, quarterback Trip Baysinger.
Shortly after, a 42-yard run from running back Keyshawn Walls to put the Hornets ahead, 13-8. Harmony responded with a 34-yard touchdown pass taking the lead once again. Before the half was over, Keyshawn Walls found the endzone again on a four-yard rush putting the Hornets in the lead going into halftime, 2016.
