County leaders approve new tax rate

In a 3-1 vote, the Bowie County Commissioners Court approved lowering the tax rate by less than three cents at their regular meeting.

“We’re actually going down on the rate but it does create more revenue,” said Bowie County Judge Bobby Howell.

The rate of $0.396934 per $100 of assessed property property will be reflected on property tax notices sent in October. It will decrease from the current rate of $0.424875.
