A local philanthropist has spent years in his dedication to helping residents in Bowie County obtain legal aid.
James Germany has been a member of the board for the National Legal Aid and Defender Association since 1976.
“I was already a community worker in DeKalb. I had been a community worker from my youth. But Mr. Fred Shavers was getting up in age and he was getting ready to come off the board. He saw me and said, ‘I choose you from this entire county to take my place and for you to be involved,’” Germany said.
