Project Two of the U.S. Highway 82 expansion through Bowie County is nearing a start date.
In a written statement, Katie Martin, the director of transportation planning and development for the Atlanta District of the Texas Department of Transportation, said construction will begin in January of 2025.
The project, which will widen Hwy 82 from west of DeKalb at U.S. Hwy 259 to Interstate 30 to five lanes, will be broken down into segments and will take about five years to complete, Martin said.
