The counseling program at Hooks High School is the first in the region to be designated as an award winning program from the Texas Counselor Association.
The TSCA announced HHS as a winner of the prestigious Counselors Reinforcing Excellence in Students in Texas (CREST) award. HHS is among the less than 300 campuses in about 50 districts across the state awarded the distinction this year. It is the first in Region 8 to receive a CREST award.
Beverly Shannon, HHS principal, said she was serving as the high school counselor attending a conference in Austin in the mid 2010s when she first learned of CREST.
