NBISD puts students first during bomb threat hoax

New Boston residents had yet another scare of violence last week as a bomb threat was called in to local officials claiming that there was an explosive device inside New Boston High School.

According to the initial release by the New Boston ISD and Superintendent Brian Bobbitt: “On December 13, 2023, at approximately 1:45 p.m., a phone call was received by a suicide hotline claiming there was a bomb in the New Boston High School. The hotline operator contacted the New Boston Police Department, who then contacted the New Boston School District. Following the protocol for this type of threat, we have cleared the building and removed the students to a safe area in order to sweep the building to ensure the safety of all students and staff.”

The district allowed parents to check their students out of school if they wanted, and continued their policy of putting student and faculty safety at the utmost priority. Both students and staff were evacuated to Lions Stadium and law agencies from across the area descended on the high school campus.
