Maud Cardinals, Lady Cardinals look for return to diamond excellence

Wace Forga, first-year Head Baseball Coach of the Maud Cardinals is working to bring championship baseball back to Maud, Texas, starting with the 2024 season.

“The road was paved way before I came to Maud”, said Forga. “You can go as far back as you’d like and there’s always been an expectation of excellence in Maud baseball.”

“I really hope our team can make our school proud”, said Forga. “Maud is a tradition rich in baseball and we really want to further that history.” “We want to have that respect on our name and keep our baseball standard high”, said Forga. “ We will play hard and the wins and respect will follow. “We want to be good men and students, who wille eventually become good dads and husbands and that’s what matters, all the the winning stuff will take care of itself.” Forga says his team will be led by some experienced athletes who will play fast, smash mouth baseball, with confidence. “Senior Rip Thomas, former district newcomer of the year will be a leader for us”, said Forga. “He’ll be on the mound and sort of a utility guy. Rip is fast on the bases and is a big time play maker. Another player to watch is Brock Windham. He is a junior catcher who is really solid behind the plate. You know what you’re going to get with Brock. He is a baseball guy, he can hold the mound for us if we need him too and he is a coach’s kid who knows what is going on.”
