Commemorating a hometown hero

Dr. Otis Williams and The Temptations honored by Bowie County fans

“Yeah I made it too, but I ain’t through!” says founder of the legendary vocal group, The Temptations.

Dr. Otis Williams was presented Thursday afternoon with a special ceremony unveiling a mural honoring him and his six-decade partnership with the musical group. Williams was born on October 30, 1941, in Texarkana, Texas. At age 11, he migrated to Detroit, Michigan where he discovered the infancy of rock-and-roll and found inspiration to “dream big.” He was later noticed by Berry Gordy, the founder of Motown Records, which led to the birth of the Motown musical group, The Temptations.
