Head Coach of the Hooks Hornets Baseball team, Tony Hight, is leading a young squad into the 2024 season. Do not let their inexperience fool you, Hight is confident in the ability of his team to compete.

“I think we’ve got a lot of tough guys this year”, said Hight. “Our mentality this year is a lot tougher than it has been in the past few years. Our goal this year is to win a district championship. We’ll take it one round at a time after that. Our next goal is bi-district champions and then so on after that. I can tell you that we got a bunch of tough guys.” The Hornet coach went on to say, “A lot of them are young, we have got a bunch of freshmen and sophomores that look to be competing for varsity jobs. Despite the youth, we will compete in the district, for sure.” Hight is relying on the leadership of three returning starters to guide his nest.

“Logan Baker, Hudson Davis, and Ripken Burwell are our only three returning starters from last year”, said Hight. “Baker is a senior this year who has been playing third base for us since his sophomore year. He’s going to make the change over to first base. He may play a little bit better this year, but he’s one of those guys he can play anywhere, we are also looking for him to be the leader in the group.”
