With a new leader, the New Boston Lions are gearing up for a tough road ahead. Head Coach Bret Myer says this district is up for grabs, and his Lions want their share.
“Our district is tough”, said Myer. “There’s not any team in this district that can’t beat anyone on any given night. I think each school will compete with everybody pretty well. It will be a battle for sure.”
He continued, “If our goal was not to be district champs, then we’re not doing what we need to do. That’s always the number one goal, making the playoffs is another big goal. We want to always remain competitive and see what happens at the end. We have to have great pitching. Everybody’s got pitchers in this district and we gotta step up and match up with them.” “We have to be able to put the ball in play and put pressure on opposing defenses and then just play fundamental baseball. We’ve been calling it a kamikaze style, we want to play fast offensively and then slow the game down defensively”, said Myer. We need to make the routine plays and not try to be overwhelmed by the moment and just be mentally tough. If we do all those things, I think we have a good chance to compete, and who knows, we might find ourselves winning the thing.”
