Few people can say they have made an impact on the lives of almost every person they know or have ever taught. Joann Pappas was one of those inspirational role models who could claim that.
She had a love of history, travel and was always learning and teaching others. What she loved the most was her kids, which included her own children, as well as the thousands of students she taught over the years.
Pappas was the dual credit and 11th grade U.S. History teacher for Redwater High School. She was the department chair and was employed with the district for the past 23 years. She was the sponsor for many organizations, including the sophomore class, National Honor Society and Film Study Club, as well as Social Studies and Current Issues and Events for UIL. She also taught for Maud and Texarkana College In addition to that, she was the group leader for numerous Education First tours around the world.
