Local ministry teaches life skills, serves community

A church in North-East Texas recently launched a ministry to provide individuals with disabilities and their caregivers with an adaptable environment for worship.

The “Abundant Life” ministry originated at First Baptist Church in New Boston, Texas in August 2023. Members Nadine Cunningham and Kim Webster created the program for adults with disabilities when they realized there was not a specific place at the church that would meet their needs.

“We believe that people impacted by a disability should have the opportunity to be a part of a thriving community,” said Carol Beth Davis, Abundant Life’s head coordinator. “A place to belong, a place to be accepted.”
