Carrying on the family traditions for DeKalb’s Business of the Year Jackie Hawkins Insurance

When Jackie Hawkins began selling insurance in the early 80s, he turned his little business that could into a thriving and award winning staple of DeKalb.

Jackie Hawkins Insurance was named the 2023 Business of the Year at this year’s DeKalb Chamber of Commerce Banquet.

“The 2023 Business of the Year was never planned but evolved. It began in 1982 when the original owner had a vision of phasing into a career that would allow him to retire from civil service but still motivate and challenge him. It quickly grew from a vision to a thriving reality and provided insurance, not only to DeKalb, but across East Texas,” Donna McDaniel, Chamber president, said of Jackie Hawkins Insurance Agency.
