Mary was a kind, gentle soul who loved her family and friends with all her heart. She had a lively spirit that always left you with a smile. She will always be loved and missed by so many.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one brother, Earl Garretson.
She is survived by one sister, Delores Welch of New Boston, Texas; one brother, Ben Garretson of New Boston, Texas; three nieces, Stephanie Welch of New Boston, Texas, Rosemary Phillips of Atlanta, Texas, and Kathy Garcia and her husband, Jacob of Corpus Christi, Texas; one nephew, Michael Garretson and his wife, Sara of New Boston, Texas; three great nieces, Kaela Phillips of Atlanta, Texas, Lauryn Phillips of Atlanta, Texas, and Josey Kate Garretson of New Boston, Texas; three great nephews, Jacob Logan Garcia of Corpus Christi, Texas, Dylan Phillips of Atlanta, Texas, and Stoker Garretson of New Boston, Texas; one special aunt, Ruby Notley of Terrel, Texas; and numerous other relatives and friends.
Services will be 2:00 P.M. Monday, April 29, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas with Steve Minter officiating. Interment will follow at Woodmen Cemetery in De Kalb, Texas.
Visitation will be held 1:00 P.M. to 2:00 P.M. to Monday, April 29, 2024 at Bates Family Funeral Home in De Kalb, Texas.

Mary Ruth Garretson, 71, of New Boston, Texas passed away Thursday, April 25, 2024 at her home surrounded by her loving family.
Mary was born September 22, 1952 in De Kalb, Texas to Clayburn “Conway” and Ann Garretson. After receiving her GED, she began her 25 year career as a caring and loving provider. Along with devoting her life to helping others, she enjoyed gardening, quilting, and crocheting.
