The Bi-District champion Maud Cardinals faced a top ranked Beckville Bearcats squad in the Area round of the 2024 baseball playoffs this past weekend.
The Bearcats had lost only three games all season, and they would prove to be too much for the Cardinals, but the men from Maud did not go down without a fight.
Game One of their series was a battle of the pitchers as Maud’s Rip Thomas tossed seven plus innings and held the powerful Bearcats lineup to just one run on four hits and struck out six. Brock Windham provided the punch at the plate with a 2-for-3 performance and Maud’s lone RBI.
