Freeze drying offers a number of benefits for preserving fruits, vegetables, and meat. The method retains the majority of the food’s nutrients, unlike traditional drying processes which can degrade them. Freeze drying also main- the original taste, texture, and color of the food, ensuring a pleasant culinary experience even after prolonged storage. Additionally, freeze-dried foods have a significantly extended shelf life compared to fresh produce, making them ideal for emergency preparedness or long-term storage.
The program will be presented by LouAnn Rollins. Ms. Rollins is the Family & Community Health Agent for Titus County. She teaches classes on food safety and food preservation. A question- and-answer session will follow the presentation.
