“Keep pushing for tomorrow,” said Cody Barling as he spoke with the Tribune of his entrepreneurship.
Barling is the owner of Cobra Shipping — a more practical shipping service for New Boston residents.
Previously known as New Boston Pack and Ship, Barling took over the business in 2021 in an attempt to revive the declining facility.
“I own several businesses, so this was just one of those pieces of the pie,” he said. “Overall, it’s sustaining itself.”
Cobra Shipping’s services include traditional packing and shipping, holiday gift wrapping, notary services, faxing, printing, and an online mailbox. For companies such as USPS, FedEx, UPS, Amazon, DHL, and LSO, the business also provides pick-up and drop-off services for a $2.00 service fee.
“This saves customers the hassle of having to drive to Texarkana, especially with gas prices the way they are. You can’t drive to Richmond Road and back for less than $10,” said Barling.
He continued to speak about his success.
“My favorite part of being an entrepreneur is seeing something grow, seeing people happy, and being your own boss. At the end of the day, if you make it, you make it. If you don’t, then you don’t. You can’t blame anybody else, it’s all on you.”
After graduating from New Boston High School, Barling served 6 years in the Middle East working for the U.S. Department of Defense. He later went on to receive a degree in General Studies and is currently the owner of Cody’s Construction and The Wild Hair bar in Texarkana.
Cobra Shipping is located at 930 N McCoy Blvd #4 in New Boston. Their operating hours at Monday thru Friday 9 am to 5 pm. Closed Saturday and Sunday.
