Philippians 3:14, “I press toward the goal for the prize of the upward call of God in Christ Jesus.” (NKJV)
To complete the call that God has placed upon your life, you must press into the Kingdom of God on a daily basis. I love how the Philippians 3:14 starts out with the personal pronoun I, which makes it very personal. The second word is the word press. Press means to move forward toward something. The word goal in this passage refers to a finish line at the end of a race. Many people are goal oriented and like to set goals. Just like guys in the gym that always ask each other, “How much can you bench press?” These guys are pressing towards a goal to become stronger.
They mark their strength by how much they can lift or how much weight they can get under and successfully press it off. Bench pressing is natural strength but this passage is talking about supernatural strength.
