Continuing in their efforts to enhance learning for their students, the DeKalb ISD have officially partnered with an organization that will help students better prepare for life after high school.
The HOPE Initiative is a non-profit organization designed to help students become more successful in and out of school as they transition to young adulthood and prepare them for life after the classroom.
The focus of the HOPE Initiative is a middle school program focused on mental health awareness and discovering each child’s learning style. The educational resources are provided by the HOGG Foundation, an Austin-based organization with a focus on mental health and well-being. DISD is the fourth district to join the HOPE Initiative, joining Jefferson, Atlanta and Libert-Eylau ISDs. “Every school district wants the time to teach character education, but there’s not a lot of curriculum out there. The fact that they are making this as a partnership and providing this to us through a grant so that it’s free is a wonderful opportunity for our school, our students and our district,” McDaniel said.
