Outgoing and incoming justices of the peace and a new tax rate were on the agenda for Monday’s regular meeting of the Bowie County Commissioners Court.
The court unanimously accepted the retirements of judges Gerald Rankin and Mary Hankins, justices of the peace for JP precincts 3 and 4 respectively. Both of their terms expire December 31, 2026.
The official date for Rankin’s retirement was August 16; however, he has not served as the JP since the end of July when the office was closed to business.
