West Bowie County towns are gearing up for the holiday season. There is sure to be something for everyone in the multitude of festivals, parades and activities planned for our area for Christmas.
Maud’s Christmas parade will be Sunday, December 4 at 3 p.m. The theme is “Old fashioned homecoming Christmas,” and trophies will be awarded to first, second, and third place parade entries. The Maud Volunteer Fire Department will be hosting a baked potato dinner at the Maud Fire Station prior to the parade, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Santa will be at the fire station for pictures after the parade.
New Boston will hold their second annual tree lighting at 6 p.m. on Friday, December 2. There will also be Christmas carols, hot chocolate, cookies, carriage rides, and a Christmas movie. On Saturday, December 3rd, the downtown Sipand- Shop will begin at 4:30, with the Nutcracker themed parade to begin at 6 p.m. There will also be pictures with Santa, an obstacle course, a candy cane hunt, carriage rides, a craft table and a Christmas movie. On December 10, there will be a cornhole tournament beginning at 11 a.m. with a concert by T.J. McAlexander from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. BYOB (40 quart cooler maximum) with the purchase of a $15 armband.
