DeKalb ISD hosts ceremony to officially christen James L. Germany Middle School

One of the most revered and respected educators in the history of the DeKalb Independent School District was honored last Thursday as the district held a grand opening ceremony to officially christen its middle school as James L. Germany Middle School.

A ribbon cutting, special music, and a large crowd gathered to honor the man who became a DeKalb institution were the highlights of a day to recognize the impact of a man who has done so much for generations of students in DeKalb.

James L. Germany, known around the area as “Mr. G”, graduated from Marvin Pines School in 1965. He had opportunities to teach at other cities when he began his career as an educator more than 50 years ago, but some would say God wanted him in DeKalb.
