Local volleyball is now into district play and every match counts.
The Lady Lions started off district play on fire with wins last week over DeKalb and Liberty Eylau. In the district opener with the Lady Bears, the match became a lesson in endurance as the two squads battled neck and neck for five sets with the Lady Lions edging the ladies from DeKalb by a final score of 20-25,26-24, 2520, 19-25, 17-15.
In that match, Makayla Bell led the way with 21 kills and seven blocks, Solai Dorsey had 10 kills, Bo Hurst had 27 assists, nine digs and a kill and Addison Davis worked hard to contribute 30 digs. Also coming up big for the Lady Lions were Macey Erwin with nine digs, Mckinley Peschel with five digs, Lydia Barrett with seven kills and a block and Karli Strain with 17 assists.
