Train crash in Maud snarls traffic for local residents

A collision between a train and a pickup truck had a major intersection in Maud blocked to traffic for several hours Tuesday morning.

The incident happened about 6 a.m. Tuesday, September 17 at the Texas Highway 8 junction and U.S. Highway 67.

A Ram contractor pickup pulling a trailer loaded with metal was traveling north on Texas 8 and mistakenly turned right onto the railroad tracks instead of the intended right onto U.S. 67, said Sgt. Heath Bell of the Texas Department of Public Safety.
