Teaching requires a lot of things – credentials, training, testing, and patience. The best teaching requires even more – a calling, passion, dedication, and commitment to improvement. Luckily for the students at DeKalb ISD, Lacey Mullins brings all of this and more into her many roles.

Lacey is now in her 17th year of teaching. She came into the field following the trail blazed by her own teachers, saying that “My teachers and professors inspired me to become an educator. Their love and passion for students and education kindled the same passion in me.”

The names on Lacey’s list of inspirations could easily be found on many Bear’s list of heroes names like Rhonda Stone, Melissa Motes, Dixie Ardwin, Robyn Anderson, Suzanne Farris, and Lisa Hudgeons. Lacey credits these educators with leading her where she is today. Of them she says, “They have taught me and continue to teach me every day. I am very thankful that they have patience for my endless questions and provide me with endless encouragement.”
