ROBERT C. BUNGER

Robert C. Bunger, affectionately known as “R.C.,” 85, passed away on September 5, 2024, in Tyler, Texas, and was originally from De Kalb, Texas. R.C. dedicated his life to serving others in various capacities, including his notable roles as a Dallas Battalion Fire Chief, a professor, and a lawyer. His commitment to public service and education left an indelible mark on the community.

He is survived by his sons, Robert Bunger Jr., Dave Bunger and his wife Karen, Michael Bunger and his wife Nicole; grandchildren, Emma, Ruby, Abby, and Ella; sisters, Patricia Clifford and her husband Don, Lois Woodlee; and brother, William Flatt and his wife Vicki; and partner, Mary Wilkins. R.C. was preceded in death by his grandparents, John Thomas, and Suzie May Bunger; mother, Lucille Flatt; stepfather, Willis Earl Flatt; brother-in-law Dennie Woodlee; nephew, Donny Clifford; and mother of his children, Suzanne Bunger.
