In a historic move at Texas A&M-Texarkana (TAMUT), a building and academic division were named in honor of a local legend in his field and a new academic achievement was announced at a press conference Friday morning.
The James C. Morriss Business, Engineering and Technology Building as well as the James C. Morriss Division of Engineering and John Collins Mechanical Engineering Student of the Year Award were unveiled.
The building and division were made possible by donations from Morriss’s daughter, Cynthia Goerke, and son and daughter-inlaw, Jim and Cindy Morriss.
