Bowie County Veterans Honored by Congressman Pat Fallon in Flags of Honor Ceremony

This year Bowie County’s Congressman Pat Fallon established the Congressional Veterans Commendation Award. In a Thursday, November 10th ceremony, held on the field at the Plano Flags of Honor site, Bowie County Veterans Richard Hall, Harold “Ray” Scott, and James “Vance” Scott were presented with the first ever Veterans Award.

In total, 16 veterans from Congressional District 4 were recognized for their service to the district, service to their communities, service to helping other veterans through leadership in Disabled Veterans of America, American Legion, and Veterans of Foreign Wars organizations, as well as helping Texas veterans obtain benefits and recognition for service in the Armed Forces.

The event was coor-dinated and directed by Kathy Ward of the Plano East Rotary Club, the Sheriff’s Honor Guard, and other community service organizations. The recognition ceremony began with Zoom calls with two veterans unable to physically attend due to their disabilities, and they were followed by 14 awardees from every branch of the Armed Forces.
