New K-9 officer Goose to start serving New Boston in January

Efforts are underway to get a new K9 officer on the streets of New Boston and to make sure he and his handler are well equipped to protect and serve the citizens of the city.

Goose is a black German Shepherd that looks to serve the people of the community with his handler Officer Parker Harris. He was purchased by the City of New Boston and the NBVFD.

Officer Harris told the Tribune that Goose is certified in narcotics detection, tracking and handler protection and will be a huge asset to the department for drug related cases, and for the city’s Take Me Home program. The Take Me Home program helps individuals with disabilities who may need help communicating in an emergency. This kind of assistance may be necessary if the individual is unable to speak, identify themselves, or if they become disoriented.
