Following a 65-46 win over New Diana early last week that earned them a Bi-District championship, the Hooks Hornets continued their solid play on Friday night with a 59-54 victory over Grand Saline.
That win earned the squad an Area Championship and propelled them into the Regional Semifinals where they challenged the 27-6 Paradise Panthers.
The Hornets dominated New Diana in the Bi-District matchup and did the same against Grand Saline through three periods. In the 4th stanza, the Hornets had to battle against a late game comeback by Grand Saline to hold on for the win. Grand Saline erased a 17 point deficit in the 4th period but the stubborn Hornets were not to be denied and their defense stepped up in the final minutes to hold off the charge.
