Local baseball and softball teams were embroiled in tournament play this past weekend as they prepare to gear up for district action.
In baseball action, the DeKalb Bears won four straight last week including a 5-4 win over Alba-Golden on Thursday followed by a 14-1 win over Tyler and a 16-0 shutout of the Commerce Tigers on Friday. On Saturday, the Bears capped off their great week with a 9-2 dub over Wolfe City.
The host New Boston Lions began play in their tournament on Thursday with a 8-0 win over the Paul Pewitt Brahmas and then took down the McLeod Longhorns on Friday by a score of 13-7.
