April has rolled in with all the cheer of Easter promises, the heat of a Texas campfire, and some rainy days. I should’ve known better. It was sunny and warm, and I had a car full of marshmallow Peeps and chocolate eggs just waiting to become a science experiment. But I had a plan. I was headed out to see my homeless friends on the streets, to pass out some Easter joy wrapped in foil and dipped in sugar.
I pictured happy faces, colorful treats, and maybe a few hugs. What I got… was melted marshmallow goo and chocolate syrup in disguise.
“Happy Easter!” I called out as I pulled into my usual spot, where several friends gathered and several I hadn’t met. “I brought candy!”
