The Texas Elementary Art Meet (TEAM) event was held this week. Redwater had 26 entries. Of those, 25 received 3’s and one student received a gold medal.
The Top of TEAM winners were: Pre-K: Nora McVay, Redwater Elementary K: Westin Daffern, Redwater Elementary Division 1: Erick Hall, Redwater Elementary Division 2: Troy Higgins, Redwater Elementary Division 3: Kannon Brown, Redwater Elementary Division 5: Stella Harper, Redwater Middle School Lela Gregory and Savannah Stanley also competed in the 5th grade division and received high scores and medals for their entries.
Redwater Junior High art and photography students participated in the Junior Visual Art Scholastic Event (VASE) art competition at Redwater High School. Art participants were Emma Buster, Kaitlyn Chauvin, Darla Griggs, and Ashlin McRight. Emma received 2 medals, Darla received one, and Ashlin received two for their artwork. Ashlin also received the Platinum medal for her division. Three photographers, Emma Lovelace, Taylor Graham, and Trent Melancon, earned a medal for their photo submission.
Redwater High School had an impressive showing at the high school VASE event held at Paris Chisum High School, with several medalists and one State Qualifier.
The following students received two regional medals for their art or photography: Paxton Pearce, Cydnee Presson, Karsyn Burns, Cherry Crump, Tiffiny Reed, Samantha Stacy, Marlee Tubbs, Marley Griggs, Peyton Mason, Cassie Yates, Thomas Binning, and Mckenzie Cummings-Johnson. The following students received one medal for their submissions: Alyssa Lyke, Lydia Martin and Grayson Kelley.
Freshman Paxton Pearce will advance to the state meet with her piece on April 25-26 at San Marcos High School.
These pieces and more will be showcased at the district-wide art show, which will be held on April 22nd from 5:307:30 p.m. in the Redwater High School cafeteria.
