Travelers on Interstate 30 eastbound in Texarkana are scheduled to be moved from the frontage road back onto the main lanes near State Line Avenue the night of Monday, April 28, according to the Texas Department of Transportation.

Both lanes of eastbound I-30 between Summerhill Road and State Line Avenue have been shifted onto the frontage road since last June, while crews replaced the eastbound interstate bridge across the railroad as part of the project to widen the interstate from four lanes to six lanes.

Starting tonight at 8 p.m. until about 6 a.m., eastbound interstate traffic will be reduced to one lane while crews complete the shift back onto the main lanes. Once this work is completed, both lanes will be open. Please slow down and use extra caution if you plan to travel through this area during this time.

More information on the I-30 widening project can be found at https://www.txdot. gov/inside-txdot/projects/ studies/atlanta/i-30-widening- project-4-lane-to-6-lane. html.

TxDOT urges Texans to slow down, stay alert and obey posted signage when driving through road construction or maintenance areas. TxDOT’s “Be Safe. Drive Smart.” campaign offers safe driving tips for navigating work zones: ·Slow down. Follow the posted speed limit and never drive faster than what is safe for road conditions. Excessive speed is a leading cause of work zone crashes.

·Pay attention. Avoid distractions, keep your mind on the road and put your phone away.

·Watch out for road crews. Roadside workers want to get home safely too. Always follow instructions and be mindful of construction area road signs.

·Don’t tailgate. Traffic in work zones can slow suddenly so give yourself room to stop in a hurry. Rearend collisions are the most common type of work zone crashes.

·Allow extra time. Road construction can slow things down. Count on it, and plan for it.
