The ol’gobbler sported 1 1/4 inch spurs and weighed close to 25 pounds. What made it truly unique were the multiple beards protruding from its thick chest.

A turkey beard grows from a papilla, a slightly raised portion of skin at the center of its breast. Most gobblers will grow a single beard that usually becomes longer with age and never falls off.
